France's invoicing reform is coming. Here's what it means for independent sports coaches and how Gio handles it for you.

The short version

Starting in 2026, all B2B invoices in France must be issued as Factur-X — a hybrid format that combines a human-readable PDF with embedded structured XML data (CII format).

If you invoice any business client (a gym, a brand partnership, a corporate wellness program), this affects you.

What changes for you

Nothing visible, if you use Gio.

Every invoice you generate is automatically Factur-X compliant. The PDF looks exactly like a normal invoice, but it embeds the XML metadata that the French tax administration will require.

Why it matters

Non-compliant invoices can be rejected by your B2B clients (their accountants will flag them), and could trigger penalties down the line. The reform is real, it's been confirmed multiple times, and the transition window is tighter than most people think.

What you don't need to think about

  • The XML format
  • PDF/A-3 compliance
  • Where to put the metadata
  • How to validate the file

We handle all of that. You click "Send invoice." That's it.
